Downtown Innisfail

Downtown Innisfail

Gift Loft

On Thursday, December 1 another Open House was held, this time at the Innisfail Middle School.

At this Open House, members of the public were asked to help review and shape the draft plans. Over 60 people attended through the course of the evening, looked over the materials (also viewable from this page) and offered up their opinions and suggestions.

Based on those suggestions, and in light of some common concerns that seemed to arise as a result of this Open House, business owners from the initial project area were invited to a Q & A session at the Town Office on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.

Several business owners attended this session and had the opportunity to voice concerns and ask questions.  Project Planners and Engineers have reviewed all of this public input and are currently preparing a new final draft plan to be presented to the Steering Committee, and the public, in early January.

Below, you will find the documents and information that was available for viewing at the December 1 Open House:

Draft Plan Strategy for the Area Redevelopment Plan – this document provides the main directions being put forward to help shape the future development of properties in the Downtown area.

Draft Strategic Action Plan – this document provides ideas for programs, events and activities that are intended to help the overall revitalization efforts

Streetscape Themes – these drawings show three possible themes for the redesign of 50 Street between 53 Street and 44 Avenue. Each design shows different patterns of concrete, street furnishings, light standards and landscaping.

Bird's Eye View of 50 Street Redesign – this series of drawings shows the proposed changes along 50 Street from the railway through to Highway 2A. The drawings show on-street parking, sidewalk and trail locations, changes to driveways and intersections and landscaping.
