Currently home to 7883 residents, Innisfail has been experiencing a steady annual growth rate. Innisfail is also home to some 450 businesses – several large industries, numerous smaller industries, and several commercial businesses.
Because of the Town's strategic position on the Highway 2 corridor, between Edmonton and Calgary, there are major opportunities for economic growth. Many new highway commercial lots are available in Innisfail with Highway 2 access and visibility.
The Wild Mile
At the April 25, 2005 Regular Council meeting, The Innisfail & Community Economic Development Board received support from the Innisfail Town Council in referring to the Highway 2A corridor within the Innisfail municipal boundaries as "The Wild Mile", a theme that has since been incorporated into the marketing and development of that area. This initiative also supports the Innisfail Tourism Region's theme of "Take A Walk On The Wild Side!"
